Four arrests at AWE as peace walk passes through

On Friday 27 July, the Footprints for Peace walk arrived at AWE Aldermaston. The walkers began their 86-day journey in Dublin on 12 May and will arrive in London on 6 August - Hiroshima Day.

After holding a peace vigil at Aldermaston's Tadley Gate, a group of four sat in the gateway and - after some deliberation - Ministry of Defence police moved in and arrested them for a byelaws offence (possibly 2(a): "(a) obstruct a lawful user or any other person acting in the proper exercise of his duty;").

All four were bailed to return to Newbury police station in September, when they will discover wether they are to be charged with any offence.
